You, as a user, see the HPC Cloud as a virtualising environment where you can build your own cluster (IaaS paradigm). We describe here the hardware specifications of the physical environment. In principle you should not worry about these as an end-user, because you do not have direct contact with the hardware.

30 High Performance Compute nodes:

  • 19 nodes with 32 cores @ 2.13 GHz (Intel® Xeon® E7 "Westmere-EX")
  • 11 nodes with 32 cores @ 2.70 GHz (Intel® Xeon® CPU E5-4650 0)
  • 256 Gbyte RAM
  • 2 x 10GE network

The 960 HPC cores deliver 24K specints under ideal circumstances.

10 "light" nodes:

  • 8 cores (AMD Opteron™ 6212)
  • 64GByte RAM
  • 1 x 10GE network
  • 6 TByte local disk

1 High-Memory node:

  • 40 cores @ 2.00 GHz (Intel® Xeon® CPU E7- 4850)
  • 2TByte RAM
  • 2 x 10GE network
  • 6.4TB local disk
  • 851 SPecInt

Network:

  • 96 ports 10GE, 1-hop, non-blocking interconnect

Storage:

  • 500TB shared storage (ISCSI, NFS, CIFS, CDMI ...)
